About
Jessica Holtman is a multimedia artist and craftsperson whose work spans sculpture, ceramics, woodworking, painting, and model making. She graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2019 and began her professional career at LF Studios, a world renowned animatronics studio, where she advanced to Lead of the Plastics Department. She later joined Laika, contributing to the fabrication of artwork and assets for stop-motion animation film.
Currently, Jessica serves as the Ceramics Guild Lead and instructor at Past Lives Makerspace in Portland, Oregon. Continuing her exploration of the relationship between humanity and the natural world, her current body of work, affectionately called “Dungeon Mugs”, is an ongoing series inspired by humanity’s enduring fascination with stone. Drawing influence from both geological form and monumental architecture, the project examines the ways people have carved and celebrated stone throughout history, transforming a functional ceramic form into a reflection of that timeless connection.
Jessica’s work is driven by a deep curiosity about the natural world, humanity’s place in it, and the impact people have on their environment. Rather than focusing on a single medium, she embraces a wide range of materials and processes, allowing each project to inform its own method of creation. Through experimentation and exploration, she pushes materials to their fullest potential while creating work that reflects both technical craftsmanship and a sense of wonder.
